Activities galore this half term in Paddington
Paddington has plenty planned to keep your children entertained this February half term, whatever their age. With pop-up playgrounds and pudding promotions, plus lots of opportunities to see our favourite bear, make Paddington your chosen destination this holiday.
Kickstart the break with a trip to The Cockpit for a family craft workshop on Saturday 10 February. Brace yourselves for a noisy afternoon as your children create their own sound makers from beans, buttons and bottle tops.
Guaranteed to lure your children away from phones and iPads is a trip to Woodland Tribe. Hosted at the Showroom gallery on Penfold Street, this immersive, participatory art exhibition will be a hit with the whole family. Equipped with hammers, nails, screws and saws; this is creative play on another level as children work as a team to build their very own adventure playground. And the best bit…grown-ups get to join in too. You must book to attend one of the free daily build sessions.
With just 2 weeks to go until the deadline, now is the time to enter our Paddington in Paddington competition. Pick up your competition question booklet from the Paddington in Paddington Station Shop and spend a couple of hours hunting out the answers as you visit famous locations from the movie and local landmarks. The lucky winner will receive £100 worth of vouchers for the Paddington in Paddington Shop and 10 runners-up will also receive a £25 voucher.
Even without the motivation of a prize you can still enjoy exploring all Paddington has to offer. Armed with a copy of The Pawprint Trail (again available from the Paddington in Paddington Station shop), you can set out on one of three adventures. If you’re feeling energetic, grab a bat and ball and have a game of table tennis. For a more sedate pace, stroll along the canal towpath, spot the swans and marvel at the majesty of the fan and rolling bridges. If you time your visit for Wednesday or Friday at midday or Saturday at 2pm, you’ll be treated to a show-stopping performance by the bridges as they roll and retract.
After all that activity, find sustenance and sanctuary in one of Paddington’s many cafes or restaurants. If it’s a sweet treat you’re after, Lockhouse are offering free puddings for children with their main meal throughout half term. Alternatively, hop aboard the colorful Darcie & May Green barges on the Grand Union canal and enjoy 50% off all food – all day – from Monday to Wednesday during February.
And once the children are back at school and you are in need of some 'me time', we suggest you head to Merchant Square. This March they are embracing mindfulness by offering lunchtime meditation sessions on board a barge. Book here to guarantee yourself some rest and relaxation.
