Local school needs your help this summer
School may be out for the summer, but Grand Union BID’s work in the classroom is not over yet. We are preparing for a major volunteering day to help one of Paddington’s local schools, Edward Wilson Primary School, look its best ahead of the new school year in September.
On 29 July, we are inviting BID members to join forces and help freshen up Edward Wilson Primary School with a much-needed coat of paint as it prepares to welcome pupils for the new academic year.
Edward Wilson Primary School is based in a beautiful, historic Edwardian building. The school has recently had to deal with a significant amount of water ingress and, although the issue has now been resolved, it has left extensive water damage to the paintwork, which is in real need of attention.
The school’s ethos is centred on being custodians of this beautiful historic building, with a commitment to making the inside look as impressive as the outside, and that is where we come in.
What needs to be done?
There is a great deal to be done, and the aim for the day is to tackle the areas most in need. This will include three school halls, three full corridors, four to eight classrooms, a sensory room, a mural, and more.

The volunteer day will be split into morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session will focus on applying the first coat of paint, while the afternoon session will tackle the second coat. Each session will have a maximum capacity of 50 volunteers.
Session 1: 9.30am – 12.30pm
Session 2: 1.15pm – 4pm

This event has the potential to provide the school with 300 volunteering hours. We would love for you to join us as we help transform these spaces.
