Networks and Wellbeing

Introduction

Paddington is a vibrant business and residential hub - already a thriving location. The Grand Union BID will promote Paddington as a desirable destination for work, socialising and networking, giving the district a collective voice, knitting together our businesses and local community.

Wellbeing Series

An associated wellbeing series will offer bespoke services to people who work in Paddington, promoting employee satisfaction and retention. Businesses have indicated overwhelming support for measures and initiatives that contribute to staff wellbeing in Paddington.

Suggested topics for workshops and discussions include baby loss and sudden bereavement, adult diagnosis of ADHD and autism, managing a long-term health condition at work, caring for a family member with dementia and managing anxiety within the workplace.

Let’s talk about grief - Bereavement panel discussion

Following a unanimous response to a wellbeing survey issued to BID members in the summer of 2025, we are delighted to launch our Wellbeing Series with a panel discussion in February 2026 focused on bereavement and grief.

We will be joined by a panel of speakers who will collectively share personal experiences, best practice approaches and unique case studies - including lessons learned when supporting families through the loss of colleagues in disasters and work-related accidents. Colleagues from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Bereavement Team will also be on hand to speak to people on a one-to-one basis.

The BID will work to create a strong business ecosystem across Paddington, promoting growth and fostering engagement between companies:
  • A new BID member engagement system will enable us to build momentum in the first year of the BID’s term and launch ESG and sustainability networks. Feedback during consultation on the BID proposal indicated high levels of support for cross-sector collaboration and sharing of best practice.
  • We will build on our popular community walks introduced for staff at St Mary’s Hospital, where NHS staff visit local community partners and charities to better understand the issues faced by the local community, and roll these out for Social Impact and ESG leads at our member companies.

NextGen Networks

With so many Paddington companies being international; staff frequently travel for work and are often based across multiple sites. Coupled with post pandemic practices of remote working, there is a real demand to support Paddington’s next generation of professionals, providing opportunities to network and advance their careers. The BID will introduce a sector-themed Next Gen series in the second year of the BID’s term.

The BID will launch regular communication with members, highlighting volunteering opportunities, offers, news and events. Themed discovery walks will be piloted to test the appetite for exploring all that Paddington has to offer, hidden gems and the wider area. We will also trial leisure and competitive socialising initiatives to bring people and companies together.
