Hotel refurb sees fixtures and fittings re-homed in Paddington
Over the past six months, Novotel London Paddington has undertaken a significant refurbishment of all its guest rooms – updating fixtures, fittings and furniture for their guests and supporting the Paddington community in the process.

Novotel made a conscious decision to ensure that the items no longer used in the newly designed bedrooms were re-used locally, benefiting schools, charities, community hubs, vulnerable individuals and youth centres across Paddington; whilst also reducing waste.
Novotel worked closely with us to co-ordinate several donations throughout the refurbishment, allowing items including sofa beds, televisions, mirrors, footstools, bins, artwork, curtains and shower fixtures to be redistributed in stages as the refurbishment progressed. All electrical items had been recently PAT tested and the doanted furniture was all in a very good condition.
The donated items included:
- 130 pillows
- 2 sofa beds
- 10 luggage racks
- 10 wall mounted televisions
- 16 pairs of curtains
- 8 Bluetooth speakers
- 7 bins
- 1 ironing board
We are delighted to have found new homes for these items where they can equip and enhance spaces used daily by pupils, young people and community members. Beneficiaries include Edward Wilson Primary School, St Mary Magdalene’s and St Stephen’s CE Primary, Essendine Primary School, Westminster City Council’s Care Leavers Team, Avenues Youth Project and North Paddington Foodbank.

On behalf of everyone at St Mary Magdalene & St Stephen’s Primary School, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Novotel for their incredibly generous donation of sofa beds, mirrors, seating, televisions and other furnishings. Their kindness and community spirit will have a truly meaningful impact on our school, helping us create warm, welcoming and nurturing spaces where our children can feel safe, comfortable and inspired to learn. It is support like this that makes such a difference to the daily lives of our pupils and staff, and we are deeply grateful for their generosity and thoughtfulness.
If you are a Grand Union BID member and you have items in good condition that you would like to discuss donating to the Paddington community, please do reach out. We’d love to support you in finding them a new, local home.
