A Fantastic First Pancake Day Relay Race 2026
This Pancake Day, Tuesday 17 February, we held our inaugural Paddington Pancake Day Relay Race with 12 fantastic local teams taking part.

On Pancake Day, people across the country eat pancakes to mark the beginning of Lent. In some towns and cities, people race each other while flipping a pancake in a frying pan and Paddington is now the latest location to join this old tradition.
We had 12 local business teams face off through heats, quarter-finals, and semi-finals, with a spectacular comeback win from a team that initially lost their first race but came back stronger to beat fierce competition.
Congratulations to The Pancake Posse from Apleona UK, who rose from the ashes to claim victory!
Well done to the runners-up, Rana The Cake Juggler from Vodafone, and to all the teams that took part from Tapestry, Capita, Helix Centre, Bidvest Noonan, British Land, Principle Clean, Paddington Works, Vodafone, and Sodexo.

We also raised money for a great cause. Each team donated at least £40 to take part. Together, we raised over £550 for North Paddington Food Bank, which supports households struggling with food poverty in Westminster. In 2021, they became the only food bank in the UK to transition to a cash-first model, empowering households to choose food that genuinely suits their needs.
We had spectators from near and far, colleagues cheering on their teams, curious building occupants, and even tourists passing through who were thrilled to witness a real-life pancake race!

A big thank you to British Land’s Paddington Central team for hosting the event on their premises and for all their team's help. Thanks to GoBoat for donating the prize for the winning team, to Crepe A La Carte for providing the pancakes, and a huge thank you to all the teams that took part and those who cheered from the sidelines. You all made it a truly fantastic day.
We can't wait to see you again next year for the 2027 races!
