A Successful Sip, Sail and Sketch on the Electric Barge
On Wednesday 10 June, for our first-ever Sip, Sail and Sketch event, we set sail with our BID members along the canal aboard the Electric Barge for a wonderful evening of history, painting and connection. It was fascinating to learn about the local history from the knowledgeable team on board, including what the area used to look like, the development of the canal, how boats used to travel, and the particularly interesting way they passed through the Maida Hill Tunnel.

With the bar open for the duration of the journey, it was a wonderful opportunity to stand in the sunshine and explore the canal as it passed by. Many talented attendees also used the journey as a chance to unwind by painting beautiful canal scenes on postcards.
The Electric Barge by night becomes The Floating Classroom by day. Money spent at the bar supports this learning space on water, helping local schoolchildren, young people and families learn about London’s waterways and green spaces.
Thank you very much to everyone who braved what looked set to be a rainy evening to attend, and to the wonderful crew aboard the Electric Barge for the smooth, information-filled journey along the canal.
I had never been down the canal this way before; it’s really beautiful.

We look forward to inviting people along for another evening on the Electric Barge in the future. Make sure you follow us on social media and sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about upcoming events and to grab tickets before they go.
